The ability to successfully manage projects has been identified as one of the top skills in the 21st-century workplace. Explore the best practices for managing multiple risks, stakeholders and functional managers who control the resources that are valuable to your projects. Find out how to identify priorities, allocate resources and effectively delegate. Through group work and case studies, you will apply techniques, such as: • portfolio management • strategic reserve time and least-resource scheduling to optimize resource usage • no-fail budgeting to ensure that each project has the resources necessary to succeed

Are you interested in becoming certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP)? The PMP certification, established by the Project Management Institute (PMI), is one of the most valued and respected credentials in project management. Earning and maintaining this certification demonstrates a solid foundation of experience in effectively managing projects. PMP certification requires you to first submit an application through PMI. The current application requires 35 hours of formal project management education in addition to between 4,500 - 7,500 hours of project management experience. Though the three-day Project Management Certificate program offered by Kent State University is not presented as an exam preparation program, it will provide you with 21 hours of project management education. Our certificate program is taught by a degreed engineer who is certified as a PMP and has over twenty years of hands-on experience managing projects
