Lean tools can be applied in every process and industry. In this intensive one-week program you will learn the application of Lean tools and techniques from a combination of classroom participation, group activities and hands-on applications. You will also learn how to make the most of Lean teams and you’ll recognize the waste in key processes. You will have the opportunity to implement an action plan for an organization’s Lean initiative. Experienced Kent State subject matter experts will guide you through the transformation process to ensure measurable impact.
Upon completion of the program, you will be certified as a Kent State Lean Practitioner.
Lean Practitioner Certification (40 hours)

Lean is a systematic approach to continually identify and eliminate wasteful activities. The result is improved profitability and increased competitiveness. This training and certification provides you with a practical understanding of the tools in the Lean toolbox and how each can be applied in the workplace to eliminate waste. You will learn to promote continual improvement by lowering the cost to produce products and deliver services. You will gain an understanding of the concepts of Lean, how to apply these concepts within an organization and explore the challenges and obstacles that you, as a change agent, may have to overcome as you implement Lean. As part of the program you will prepare an action plan for implementing the Lean concepts to a project.
